Laser and Light Skin Rejuvenation and Repair

Turn Back the Clock

IPL and Laser treatments help to turn back the clock on skin tone and texture through targeting redness, sun damage, elasticity or uneven texcture in the skin. A consult will help determine which device and treatment is right for your area of concern. Many face and body treatments are available with little to no social downtime. Dramatic results are achievable with fractional lasers which require some social downtime.

FAQ

IPL uses a broad spectrum of light at different wavelengths, while lasers emit a single, focused wavelength. IPL focuses on color, and treats tone. It does not treat texture issues like wrinkles or scarring. It uses the broad light spectrum to target melanin, blood and/or bacteria. It can be used to treat broken capillaries, sun damage/brown spots, hair removal and acne. IPL is not a fit for darker skin types (Fitzpatrick Scale 5 and 6). Laser uses energy focused through different mediums to target specific areas of improvement. Different laser types are used based on the concern being addressed. Lasers can treat tone and texture, and some are safe for darker skin tones.

This depends on what area and concern you are addressing, your skin type, downtime tolerance and budget. We have many options to accommodate different patient preferences on these items, and suggest a consultation to put together a plan that is personalized just for you, Sometimes a combination of a few different treatment types is best to accomplish your goals.

Downtime varies depending on the treatment selected. Many laser treatments have zero or minimal downtime. The more aggressive, ablative treatments deliver great results after one treatment, but do require 2 weeks of social downtime.

Each person's pain tolerance is different, so this is difficult to answer. The best description for most IPL and laser treatments is that it feels like a hot rubber band snapping on your skin. Some areas are more sensitive than others (like around the nose). Most of our machines do have cooling to help ease this sensation. We offer numbing cream and ice packs to help if the patient prefers them. After the treatment, you will feel like you have a mild sunburn and we will apply products to ease this sensation. Fractional ablative procedures are the exception here. These are more intense so we require numbing for the patient, and have a post procedure product regimen included to ensure maximum comfort and proper healing.
